SOCIAL INLCUSION
The club thrives on togetherness and really is the sum of its members. All members 'own' the club and are free to suggest changes or potential improvements.
Each year we have an AGM where members are elected to or retained on the volunteer committee whom run the club on behalf of its members.
The club has a thriving social element partaking in events such as Summer Pub runs, Quiz Nights, pre-race Pasta Parties, Christmas Doo's and Awards nights.
Mini-Buses are also booked for league events (affectionately known as Fun Buses) and are a great way to form a camaraderie among your club members.
The club's volunteer coaches and managers often hold ad-hoc events such as Mile relay events, Beep Tests, Time Trials and focussed coaching programs.
The club encourages its members and parents of child members to become involved with the club further through volunteering for committee or one off roles, to taking a step on the Coaching / Run Leader ladder which is paid for by the club.
Lookout for these appearing on the Events page. Members are notified of events via email and social media channels
DISTANCE AND CROSS COUNTRY
Adult Distance training catering for all abilities are led by the club's Run Leaders every Wednesday evening. A dedicated coaching session group is also available. Although booking is still required, these sessions are free and included in your membership.
Coached Track Interval Sessions and Senior Distance Speed are held every Tuesday / Wednesday evening. Booking is required and a fee of £2.35 is payable (a TrackPass may work out cheaper if you intend to use these sessions frequently)
The weekly distance and paces and training session types for the above can be found on the Distance & XC Training page.
We compete in the Hampshire & District Road Race League consisting of distances from 5mile to Half Marathon. The league provides an excellent addition to your personal running goals with several opportunities to score points for the club or even get a coveted place on the yearly Hampshire Road Race League Mug!
We compete in the regular cross-country fixtures as part of the Hampshire Cross Country League. The Cross-country season offers great opportunities for runners of all ages and abilities to get away from the road and track and compete on totally different terrain over the winter months. With most events providing races from U13 to Senior level, cross country fixtures provide one of the few opportunities for club members from all age groups to compete and mix together, often with three family members to be found competing in three different age groups!
The club actively encourages all adult runners to enter the various Cross Country and League Races
